Photos that work

Choosing, ordering, and protecting your photos.

Last updated 2026-05-29

Photos do a lot of the heavy lifting on a profile. A few small choices can make a big difference.

What works

  • A clear primary photo where your face is well-lit and unobstructed
  • Two or three additional photos that show range — outdoors, with friends (your face still clearly visible), a hobby
  • Recent shots, ideally taken in the last year

What to skip

  • Heavy filters and beauty effects
  • Group photos as your primary — reviewers can't tell which person you are
  • Photos with phone numbers, social handles, or other contact info in them
  • Photos of other people without their consent

Reordering

Drag and drop in Profile → Edit → Photos to reorder. The first photo is your primary; it's what shows on your card in the discover feed.

"Visible before match"

Each photo has a toggle. By default, photos are shown only after a connection is accepted. Turn on Visible before match on the ones you'd like everyone to see in the discover feed.

Reporting and removal

If a photo is flagged by our automated review or another member, you'll receive a notification with the specific reason. You can appeal via the link in that notification.
